Long time for me too, and interesting timing as I have recently returned to the job hunting market and that always makes me look long and hard at building websites for profit.

My idea is a Step-by-Step section where people can "Play Along." Every board I go to is loaded with people saying, how do I do that? With money tight like it is, this is the perfect time to learn to make money on the web. And everyone has something to learn - I don't care how long you've been in the biz.

To Sum Up:

Making Money on the Web Tutorials - with a chance to follow along and have your site critiqued as you go.

-- putting up a Wordpress blog (choosing a niche, domain names, etc.)
-- customizing the blog
--- finding affiliate deals
--- adsense
--- promoting and social networking
-- higher level marketing such as buying adwords (this one always loses me) and selling ads on your site.

Etc!

Once the sites are up, we use the power of the group to interlink, promote and make money!

Welcome back Cynthiab and thanks for your suggestion. Sorry to hear that you've found yourself looking for a job, good luck with the search.

What do you think such a section should be called?

How would we incorporate the "Play Along" element and make it different to the forum sections we already have?

Probloggers been doing a great one:

A task a day - people report back with their results and people comment. In order to make it work, you'd need to offer a prize to people who complete certain levels - maybe it's 10 comments on their blog or an ebook about how to make more money - doesn't have to be a big prize, just something to keep up the "fun" element.

Thanks Cynthiab, I will consider that. Did you participate in the ProBlogger one yourself?

that also looks like the 30 day course upstartblogger had, a good idea too with the right people to lead it :)

I didn't participate just because . . . I've been watching though!

Yup, I definitely agree with this. I think that promotion of BAF is one of the things that we need to do. An program like Cynthiab has mentioned where prizes and incentives are offered to promote BAF in blogs, is a very good example.

If you were really organized, you could run it as a contest, which would then allow you to post to contest boards - winner is either voted on by everyone in the contest or you could require proof of adsense returns (as in, the winner is the one who makes the most adsense money in a short period of time.)
