How to Enter
Start a new thread in the BAF Suggestions Forum (http://www.businessadviceforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8) with your best suggestion to improve Business Advice Forum.

Once I have approved entries from ten members, I will start a poll for our members to vote on the most helpful suggestion.

The member whose suggestion gets the most votes will win $20 and an entry into our draw for $10,000.

The member with the second most votes will get an entry into our draw for $10,000.

Click Here (http://www.businessadviceforum.com/showthread.php?t=835) to view payment confirmations from members who won our previous competitions.

Eligibility
This competition is only open to members who have made at least ten non-spam posts on our forums. You should also have made at least two other posts on the day you make your suggestion.

Good luck and remember that the winner and runner up in this competition will get a free entry into our draw for $10,000.

Yes participants will be eligible to vote and I hope they do vote, but they will not be allowed to vote for themselves.

I have got a few suggestions for poll.
1. Make it mandatory for all members whose entries have been submitted to vote on the poll (coz,i doubt only a few of them would vote,as any +1 to other means -1 to his suggestion);
2.Only 1 vote per member,i personally don't like multiple voting option!; and
3.Disable the view poll results option until the poll is completed, otherwise, people naturally tend to give biased opinions :)

P.S. Fergal,Drafting and posting a poll would really be a serious challenge for you, specially when you would conduct polls for mega prizes later on ,coz, otherwise people tend to blame the polls as unfair! And unfair poll would take the members away from the forum, rather than bringing more activity to the forum!

Good suggestion Webestrian...Lets see what is Fergal's point of view.. I am sure he must have some excellent plan already on this issue..:)

Thanks for the suggestions Webestrian. I agree with all three of your points and they will form part of the poll.

Not all future competitions will involve polls, and I do take your point re people believing that polls may be unfair. I'll give that serious consideration for when we get to the bigger prizes.

Oh I love that kind of competitions ;) that is one of the things you should repeat more often.

The other thing I would be interested in is coaching, meaning not coaching like you know it from some of the other sites where you either pay a lot for personal consulting or other way are left alone with thousands of ebooks. More over I would be interested if a group of five or ten members at business advice Forum run a project together by posting each day about the issues they run into for all registered members to read. These are my first suggestions, need more ? feel free to contact me :D

I have a question too on who gets credit for suggestions. There are some suggestions that are almost or exactly the same. Take for example the suggestion on a Marketplace or "Buy and Sell" subforum, I think 2 or 3 members have already suggested this. There's also the rare case of the suggestion on coaching and mentoring, where Pendelton and Bojomojo wrote their suggestions at almost the same time.

I also agree with Webestrian's suggestion on making it mandatory for participants to join the poll. If not, they'll immediately be disqualified from the that particular competition involving polls.

I will be posting a poll along the lines of post 2 (http://www.businessadviceforum.com/showpost.php?p=12878&postcount=2) in this thread. I will be asking voters not to just cast their vote based on the description on the poll, but to visit each of the relevant threads so that they can read the members' suggestions in full, before they make their decision.

I cannot see some of the competition entries by some of our members in the poll Fergal. I think Wussa and DEADMAN's names are not there. Have they missed some of the eligibility requirements for this competition?

Fergal
Tue 28th Apr 2009, 07:06
Nazreen, I had limited this competition to ten entries and I accepted the first ten entries that met our requirements.

However, I will be posting a new competition once this one closes, and it will be open to more than ten entries.

Fergal, My intention was not only to take part in the competion. As you can see I've also mentioned some serious issues about how forum degrades when they lack basic factors as mentioned in my thread. [ BUSINESSADVICEFORUM - IMPORTANT ISSUES AND SUGGESTIONS - http://www.businessadviceforum.com/showthread.php?t=2372 ] As well as I intend to post for BAF today too thou I've been going through exams.

But, you didn't notice what I said "Give time to each of the competition no matter how low prizes are they worth of". I hope your goal is make people of the world (newbie) join & stay at BAF and make BAF reputed and best for business issues and advice. This might be because I posted late or you quicked the competition. I don't know what was running to vein.

Each competition should have been opened for everyone but unfortunately you made limitation for first one and I see newbie aren't looking around competion 1! And they even don't know when next competion gets started. Luckily, you managed for voting of comp. 1 so quickly. So, you must rush to next competiton and WHY DON'T YOU KEEP UPDATES OF COMPETION AT MAIN LOGO OR OPEN A UPDATE CENTER FOR BAF?

Anyways, I got your private message and thank you for the honour.

Hi DEADMAN,

I really do appreciate you taking the time to post such detailed suggestions.

Unfortunately we had ten entries before you made your most helpful post and your entry will not be entered into our competition. This has nothing to do with the quality of your suggestions, which are great, it's simply that unfortunately I had limited the draw to ten entries.

Thanks again for your suggestions and please note that we will be posting a new competition very soon.
