I am putting together a resource about the essential WordPress plugins.

So what are the plugins that you use. Do you use some secret ones that not many people know of?

I would love to hear about them.

I have set up a survey that you can submit your favourite plugins to. Check out Essential WordPress Plugins (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=V_2bkCZRcAugI_2bWpg_2fURkW4w_3d_3d) to participate.

If you submit a plugin that is voted as one of the most popular ones then I will acknowledge you with a link to your website. (pretty much free promotion and credibilty!)

I look forward to your responses!

Cheers

Tim, I don't use any WP plug ins, so sorry but I can't respond to your survey.

That Survey Monkey tool looks great, did you have to pay to use it?

I'm using the FlickerRSS plugin to display my latest photos from flickr. WP-Tiger-Admin from Steve Smith for a cool administration area) WP polls for polls , WP-contact form for a contact form and WP postratings so that readers can give a rating on certain articles.

I don't use WP, but for my blogs and sites I use these plugins:

Automatic Ping Plugin
Recently added items
Tag Cloud
GPS/GIS Map (shows on Google earth where your article is from for visual navigation)
Social bookmarking plugin
Keyword Tag Search generator (suggests other articles based on keywords)
RSS feed incoming (displays RSS feeds on my site - not full article, just headline)
RSS feed outgoing (sets up the RSS feed for my site)
Google Analytics plugin

If you don't mind me raising my hand here, I can help answer that. :) Survey Monkey's got both free and paid options, Fergal. Here's their pricing list. (http://www.surveymonkey.com/Home_Pricing.aspx)

Has to be Akismet before anything, Tim. If you don't use that to keep your spam under control, you're sunk. There's also the WP-UserOnline (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-useronline/)plugin for real time info on your visitors.

http://akismet.com/ will work with the newest version of WP and best of all it's free for non-commercial use.
