Welcome to Business Advice Forum Hansika.
Can you please tell us a little more about the type of website and the type of customers you want to communicate with? If we have a little more information we will be able to give you more specific help.
What type of communication are you using at the minute - Live Help, email, telephone, contact form, etc?

Hi Hansika, welcome to BAF. :) I think it's good to offer a number of options. Visitors have varying tastes. Some would leap onto live chat for example and others wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, preferring to use a contact form.
As Fergal said, the more you share the more we can help. :)

You might also want to consider a blog or a forum. A blog is a good way to keep your visitors up to date on what you or your company are doing. A forum is a good way to interact with your visitors, for example if they have pre-sales questions or are looking for technical support.

Yea, a blog or a forum is good in building relationship and communicate with
your visitors. If possible, use auto-responder as well. This will also make sure
that you are able to follow up your prospects with your business.
Creating a blog requires you to put in consistent effort in building content.
While creating a forum requires your time and effort to maintain it.
The easiest is using an auto-responder. You can automate your emails
and communicate with them with it.

Welcome to the Business Advice Forum Hansika.
I don't think that there is one best way to communicate with visitors on your site. People have different tastes and personalities as Kay has mentioned so it would be good if you offer several options to them. Email, phone, snail mail, live chat, blogs and forums are just some of the ways to communicate with your visitors.

One good way to communicate with your visitors is to make them feel that they are important to you. Check for comments and reply to their comments. Try to establish relationship with your viewers. It will surely increase the chance of them return to your website.
cheers!

Good point Ian, I remember once asking a question in the support forum of a company whose hosting I had purchased. The questions wasn't answered for days and it certainly doesn't leave a good impression of the company.
