Most probably to have a kick start in business, planning is the most important things to concern on. Fail to plan meant plan to fail. Firstly, the goal must be set. Without goal, we don't really know what we want, what is our set target. For newbie just like me, need to have a study or research first in one area we want to focus (goal). Seeking information, gather knowledge from senior, and having a try are the second step of planning. After being master, then only can start the implementation.

Cent percent agree with you ...
everything begins with a proper plan ...
as the saying is a thing well planned is half executed. i think even your simple day if begins with a good plan goes very well ... contrary to that if you just go on facing everything as it comes infront of you ....
for me the option one is the better one ....
peace out

Yea its a good thing also to write all your ideas down on paper.. study what has worked well for others.. and what has caused others to fail..
As the old saying goes look before you leap.. Many things can look but but cna be very costly and unproductive..:)

Maybe another thing you can try out is to have a business partner to try and guide you. The person must be able to support financially and to provide advice and experience sharing as well. Do consider that if you are a newbie.

Planning is most important for any business. Because only planning will help sometimes to know about the difficulties that can be incurred in the future. They help us in predicting to some extent and to take firm intiatives to avoid problems.

First, setup a goal which shouldnt be too big nor too small. Then start planning carefully your bussines ,point by point, step by step and dont miss anything.Set timelines for each step and calculate the randament.
Better do it for several bussinesideas and choose the one has the best randament ratio(time vs money).

I heard from someone before, before you plan to succeed, you should plan to fail, by doing this, you will avoid all the mistakes.

Proper planning may or may not lead to success... Who evaluates what is right and what is wrong? Its just our common sense. The ultimate result is important.. Innovation is more important than planning.. You plan, weigh against odds & evens but may fail just not because you are wrong.. but the reactiveness of this world would not have favoured you... I shall illustrate an example..
A group of my seniors in my hometown started the internet cafe with an investment of 6 Lac. They initially started with 5 computers.. and their plan was 5*(10 hrs/computer)*(20 rs/hr) = 1000 Rs/day == 30000 per month == 5000/head. Their idea was good, but didnot lasted long.. Some other guy had started a similar cafe right beside them without much effort.. he does n't want high profits.. he is just expecting half of the people to come to his cafe.. Finally, these ppl couldnot even recover their investment... Ultimately they failed..
Real Time ideas (so called innovation) is the most important thing in business. If you can innovate, you are in the way to success in very few days..

Do you think there is a lesson to be learned from that, or is it just bad luck?

Yes Fergal... They started their business only after planning for 6 months.. for everything on how to get good connectivity, hiring a Building in a good crowded area, etc ....
1. Suppose if you say that they didnot plan properly.. It does mean that even if you plan with good concern, for 6 months, they may fail
2. Suppose you say they planned properly, but its mere bad luck, then Proper planning also led to failure..
Final thing is that.. Even if you plan properly, there are several other things to consider, but cannot rely upon... But, with proper innovation, we can atleast change the fate to some extent.. For example, in the example given above, Those ppl should have converted the Surfing center to a Computer Learning Institute as both of them require same inventory. There are no other computer learning centers in and around that area.. Or, they should have introduced the Membership cards (200 Rs for 20 Hours) telling customers that they can come and surf any time and for any period.
So, finally what i would say is.. For a success in business, Planning is necessary but not a sufficient condition for success.. But why I say this is because, Many people spend lot of time thinking about the plans to do.. but, by the time they implement, they realise its too late !!

yeah a think when it comes to start a sucessfull bissness what you need to do is get a bissness that has already started e.g. you buy a paid forum posting website. cause most people get bored of these website that are very hard to run and turn down more bissness than they should just because of time etc. if you had to buy something simmilar there wouldnt be much work left to do everything is basicly set up and it is a case of getting straigt to work lol how unlucky lol,
thanks

The success of a business is a matter of planning.
A business plan enables we to work out the viability of our business.
It also allows us to work out in advance how we will operate our business...:)

off course this best suits for any work. if you really need success you have to plan very well to overcome the barriers in the work to achieve success. in business you have to plan, research and apply some strategy of work to achieve great success.
