Advice on How to Write a Website / Software Development Spec

Thanks fort hat Kay, some useful tips there. I was however, surprised by the sentence below;
The best site specifications are very short and to the point, and are often just outlines or bullet lists of the major design or technical features planned.I would have thought that more detailed and specific specs would increase the chances of the developer providing you with what you want?
