Wow, pretty impressive!

Farmer Wu Yulu drives his rickshaw pulled by his self-made walking robot near his home in a village at the outskirts of Beijing January 8, 2009. This robot is the latest and largest development of hobby inventor Wu, who started to build robots in 1986 with wire, metal, screws and nails found in rubbish sites.

Looks great, I wonder how practical it is. Something like a quad would probably be much more practical for getting around his farm. I'd like a robot to clean my house.

That's very cool. Amazing what you can do when you start tinkering around. Why's a guy that can build robots not working for some big tech company I wonder? Obviously he's a smart cookie.

ME TOO! I knew there was a reason I liked the Jetsons.

Maybe there's some psychological motivation in using a 2-legged robot in pulling his rickshaw. He probably liked the idea of a Mexican-looking guy pulling his rickshaw. :)

Being a farmer, he also probably don't have the qualifications to enter a big tech company. But with his robots and his appearance in the papers, these companies are probably already courting him to join their organization.

Look powerful robot but what kind of energy source he is using for the robot?

Welcome to Business Advice Forum Reign.

...It is powered by battery and can walk for up to six hours at a time without being recharged...

It looks like an oversized Lego man.

Exactly my thought too.
A quad would be more practical you would imagine but great PR tool for the inventor.

I'd like a robot to clean my house or Mary Poppins, she could look after kids too.

The creators of the Child-robot with Biomimetic Body, or CB2, say it's slowly developing social skills by interacting with humans and watching their facial expressions, mimicking a mother-baby relationship.

Story. (http://www.physorg.com/news158151870.html)

Freaky, whatever next? It certainly looks very life like. Watching it, it is almost difficult to remember that it is a machine.

You can view a video of the robot here on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE2VCwYDjx0&NR=1).

That pic of a child robot looks like a real person (those gothic ones) or a ghost. Eeeeee, it makes my hair on my arms stand.

It kind of reminds me of that Will Smith movie I Robot. Scientists should not play God and give them learning abilities or this might just be the beginning of the end of the world.
