I'd caught this press release (http://news.yahoo.com/s/prweb/20081120/bs_prweb/prweb1643744;_ylt=AuMJgc2Ss.Cl2CgCC.m_7IvNybYF) about VisualCV when I was browsing Yahoo earlier.
Interesting idea, being able to include a video in your online resume plus connect confidentially with companies you'd like to work for to express your interest. Maybe I'm out the loop but I haven't heard of any other site doing that.
This is the main site: http://www.visualcv.com/
I had to chuckle at them including Barack Obama in amongst the examples. His CV was an interesting read. :)

What a great idea, I'm not sure that a video of me would increase my chances of getting a job however. The idea is a good example of the type of business you could launch to buck the recession trend. There will be lots of people looking for jobs at the minute and this will surely be a great target market for VisualCV.

This is nice and it couldn't have launched at a better time. Do you really think that this would be the new trend for CVs or Resumes? It would also be good if it's complete with sounds and not just visuals but then again, you can always put a link to a video in your visualCV.
In my opinion, those who are looking for a jobs as PR, HR, Sales Reps, Executives, radio and movie artistes would greatly benefit from this.

Idea is quite interesting but doubt that companies will hire people through their videos....
I think it will make for them scrutiny easy for them since visualCV gives them a better opportunity to judge candidate by his personality & body language as per job requirements..
BUt his attitude & knowledge can be judged only through Personal Interviews....

The video is just a foot in the door to get an interview, scifi, just the same as a paper resume/CV would be. You'd need to impress obviously once you were there and wouldn't be hired purely on that video alone. It's just another tool in your jobsearch toolbox.
Speaking from experience having being in the position of interviewing for staff before, I'd have loved that from that side too. Some that looked good on paper when they arrived for the interview didn't even look clean and tidy, never mind professional. To me if you can't be bothered to present yourself in a professional manner for an interview, you probably won't pay much attention to your job either.
If you're going for a job when appearances and self confidence count for a lot (rightly or wrongly) like the types Nazreen mentioned, I think it's a huge advantage to show how you carry yourself.
