Philip Greenspun is a semi retired Computer Scientist and Internet Entrepreneur. His open source applications company had an annual revenue of $20 Million before they got venture capital.
Philip Greenspun's personal site (http://philip.greenspun.com/) is very interesting and has useful and insightful content on everything from web design to tips on how to be happy.

I had a look around the other day, Fergal.
While some of the more technical stuff was way over my head, I found him a very interesting, intelligent man! I thought the co-pilot on the ground idea was fantastic.
Of course I was drawn to and really enjoyed the book reviews. (I particularly liked the sound of the Lives of The Monster Dogs story). I'm sure you guys will also enjoy that page for the visuals. When you look at it you'll know what I'm talking about.
Unfortunately I didn't have an awful lot of time but like the Terminator, I'll be back! :) There's just too much good stuff there I want to read not to return. Fascinating site and really it was a pleasure to meander through it. I'd encourage everyone to drop by.

Thanks for the reply Kay. There is really a lot of info there, so much so that I hadn't even seen some of the sections you enjoyed.

I'd have to agree that Philip Greenspun is quite geeky. I'm not saying that as a bad thing though because I've always believed that "the geeks shall inherit the earth" - just look at Bill Gates.
As to content, there are a lot of interesting and high-quality content on his website. It's hard for me to digest all those very alien words though without any pictures. When I start reading on a subject that I'm totally unfamiliar with, I start off by reading those "Idiot's Guide To" or "For Dummies" books. I love those books and they have a lot of illustrations for dummies/idiots like me.
I think he could also have done better adding pictures and graphics to his website because it seems that it's all text to me.
