I think businesses should change atleast for a while to Euro because it seems more stable and healthy than the US dollar.US dollar is declining for the last six years with respect to Euro and Yen!! though the US dollar has shown resilience, I think its time to change!!

Did Obama say this silent_thunder? If he did, he would be signing his death wish because no one will vote for him in the US presidential elections if he said that.

Currently Euro is used in European countries and the US dollar is still the international currency that is widely accepted in the world. I think that it won't be that easy to make the change.

Oil is priced in Dollars and so are a lot of international online transactions. I'm so familiar with the Dollar for online transactions that I automatically value online products and services in Dollar terms, even though I live in the Euro zone, have Euro in my wallet, get paid by Euro and deal with Euro every day.

I read a story a few months back about a famous model who insisted that her contract be changed from Dollars to Euro because of the instability of the Dollar. Clever lady.

Silent, do you think that Asian countries will begin to favour the Euro over the Dollar?

This is true. I have also been thinking of the same. But in practical life, it would be difficult to bring about the change in an overnight. But it is sure that we need to shift the focus in a small amount. Then slowly we could change the face of world's economy.

When you think about the situation that we are in dollar is relatively weaker than Euro!! I use the term relatively as Euro has also decreased in value but not to the extent that dollar has, Well my father does export certain goods so I know how it impacts our trade immediately when dollar fluctuates in value. When we import a certain goods lets say 1 dollar was 45 rupees but now it is 40, we lose 5 rupees. That 5 rupees is our margin!!We are forced to sell it without any gain. If we had done our trading with euro we would have atleast seen a bit of profit. If not get a profit we atleast know or can predict how it will be in future.

I think the problem with Euro is its not promoted aggressively by Euro commission ,that is really a puzzle to me why they are not promoting their currency as an alternative. Well I dont know about other countries but India will certainly embrace Euro in the present scenario

Using moneybookers saved me a lot money last month!!

I think the idea is worth a serious consideration. Euro has been holding stronger than Dollar for quite a while now.Converting is not that big a price to pay to keep the world economy stable.

yeah certainly I agree with you that it is the right time for change from dollar to euro.
Euro being more stable will also bring stability to the world economy too.
It can fight the recession period since it is more stable & healthy than dollar.
Why whole world should suffer because of USA dollar.?? Atleast we can relax ourself from currency stability problem which is affecting the business more than anything else in present economic scenario.

There is a scene in the most recent Bond movie, where Bond's enemies take payment in Euro, because they say it is more secure than the Dollar.

IMO it wasn't as good as the last one. Worth going to see, but a bit disappointing to be honest. That's only my opinion others might like it.
