When it come to setup an online store, I'm always confuse on what to sell. Is there a way or software that I can use to find a niche?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think there's a program that find's a niche, everyones niche is different. I suggest start selling something your interested in yourself. If you don't want to do that, find out what is "hot" on the online market right now, research it, and if you think you can, start to sell it.

Ulrike, I would suggest that as a first step you think about what products, services of niches interest you. Don't think about potential profits in the first instance.
You will find it difficult to stay motivated and focused on your business, if you are not interested in the product or service you are promoting. The fact that you are personally interested in your niche probably means that you will have a strong knowledge of your product and this will give you a distinct edge over your competition when it comes to providing good customer care and in delivering your sales pitch. Even if you don't have all the required knowledge, it is much easier to work at acquiring the knowledge if you have an interest in the subject area.
You mention that you want to sell your product online and a knowledge and interest in your product will enable you to write quality and interesting online content on it. Good content is a major factor in improving your site's SEO and search engine listings.
Once you have decided on the area you are interested in you could then start to look for the most profitable options within that area.
Reply back to let us know how you got on or if we can be of further assistance.

Ok bro,i understand your confusion... Even some days before,i was also confused regarding such things, means what to sell & bla bla bla.. But atlast i got support from a successful seller of eBay.. And from that day,i have totally learnt some techniques... Ok listen, first you should have a good knowledge that, which sort of products are in demand no in your area or zone.. I think now a days, most of the people are always hunting for either electronic goods like Laptops,Mp3 players,iPod,etc or Cheap webspace & domain hosting... So you should look forward to it.. hope,my words may help you....

Just sell the things that are hot in the market, you will definately find a buyer. Just use your knowledge and strategy to make that product more attractive like give more freebies or something that combines with the product. Just research the market 'n find the best one. Best of luck. Bye

You'll have to look around to see what's under represented on the Web. If you see a product that isn't offered a lot of places you can sell that.

Yes... you need to sell the products which are not easily available..
I shall quote you an example.. If you have a software company and plan to develop a software.. then, you need to browse through Tech Forums, find out what users request often but could not find because the cost of s/w is too high, or such software is not available.. Start working on that project, and you will surely succeed..
My personal experience is : I have seen many people asking for Smileys in Google Talk. I have created an addon which integrates smileys and backgrounds for GoogleTalk.. I have distributed the software for free.. There was a huge response from many people.. I recieved many mails of feedback.. I really wondered, if i had hosted the software somewhere for a price (even say 2$), i would have earned more than 1000$...

You should choose a niche that You like. There is no use selling farm products when You have no clue about this field.
Then You have to research the market. Selling freezers at the South pole won't be a good idea. If You sell online this is less a problem, however if You go offline have a close look at the market.
Know Your competitors and see what You can do better than them. You must either be cheaper, or have a higher quality than Your competition.
Finally don't let anyone hold You back. If You think You can do it, then do it!
have a nice day!

I think you need to find a very special niche yet have confidence that it could generate sales. Here are some guides :
1. Do you know what's so special about the niche and how are you going to promote it.
2. What are the current and future prospect of the niche.
3. What's the cost
4. Do you know well about the niche
Good luck to u :)

I don't think there is and software to do that. You have to do that manually. Or take help of other by joining different discussion forums.
