Hello,

I am starting a business and have a reliable manufacturer in Taiwan. they have EXW shipping terms.

I am trying to find out how to go about importing freight (1 pallet 400lbs).

Does anyone have any experience with any reputable companies?

Thanks,

CDcamp

Welcome to Business Advice Forum cdcamp, thanks for joining.

Where will you be importing the goods to, which country?

What are "EXW shipping terms"?

Have you been in contact with your local courier companies or shipping brokers, or even any of the major international companies such as Fed Ex or UPS?

I will be importing into the United States.

EXW - Ex means from. Works means factory, mill or warehouse, which is the seller's premises. EXW applies to goods available only at the seller's premises. Buyer is responsible for loading the goods on truck or container at the seller's premises, and for the subsequent costs and risks.

UPS does not have International freight service (at least not in Taiwan). I am sure i will need to find an import / Export agent. I am waiting on a recommendation from the manufacturer to point me in the right direction.

I am hoping someone has had a similar "Good" experience and would be able to provide me with a company referral.

Have you considered contacting the US embassy in Taiwan or the Taiwanese embassy in the US? Embassies can often provide very useful commercial information.

You could also ask your supplier or indeed one of the embassies for the names of other businesses that are importing from the same area as your supplier. These businesses will probably be more than happy to recommend freight services to you.

I contacted the Manufacturer and they are providing me an estimated shipping cost to the U.S. CY/CFS (manufacturer to U.S. port).

Since my last post I have found numerous resources to help with the logistics of importing goods internationally.

Thanks,
