Springwise wrote about a clothing rental business called Transitional Sizes (http://jenniferbdavis.blogspot.com/search/label/Business%20Ideas). For a monthly fee they rent clothes to women who are changing sizes (due to pregnancy or weight loss) ...

Sorry Rose but this is the same post as the one that's posted in jenniferbdavis blog (http://jenniferbdavis.blogspot.com/2008/06/clothing-rental.html). I think that in order to show fairness and respect to the writer of the blog, acknowledgment must be given to her.

Anyway, thanks for sharing about this innovative business with us. I think that Transitional Sizes is a great idea especially for pregnant mothers who are expecting. Do you think that this idea would also be good for kids and children? Most children grow up very fast and will also outgrow the clothes that we've bought for them in no time.

Sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure how many women I know however, would be prepared to rent clothes. However, if the economy continues to tighten up more and more people will be looking for ways to reduce their expenditure.

I think this is a pretty decent idea, but many women are uncomfortable wearing some strangers clothes. I think if you clean up the idea a little bit, you will be successful!

Yes, you're right that some people find that wearing clothing that has been worn by others, uncomfortable. If they can assure that their clothing has been washed and sanitized, then more women might actually welcome the idea of renting these dresses.

Is this what you meant by cleaning up the idea a little bit Lauren?

well i think its an very innovative idea as women are fantasized by trying new and different clothes. Renting clothes give them more freedom to try new clothes.

This is a very good idea. There already are used clothing stores for people who can't afford to purchase new ones. There are also organizations that collect clothes to help women have the right clothing attire when they interview for a new job. A high school n my town started (by 2 high school girls) have a prom dress share or sell organization for girls who can't afford to go out and buy a new dress that usually sells for abot 200 dollars. The idea is quite innovative.

The business of renting out prom dresses is also quite an innovative idea and I'm impressed that this is started by just two high-school girls. Not many people can afford prom dresses and those who can afford and are thinking twice of buying, can rent them instead. If it was me, I would also rent prom dresses because I only get to wear it once.

Renting out prom dresses should also be very successful especially in the U.S and western countries. In Singapore and in most Asian countries, we don't have any proms.

Welcome to Business Advice Forum Tesa. Well done to those two high school girls. Their idea makes good business sense and helps those who find themselves in the difficult financial situation of feeling under pressure to purchase something they really can't afford.
